Happy Anniversary

One week ago today Chris and I celebrated our very first anniversary! Still can't believe it's been already been a year. I guess it really is true that time flies when you're having fun. I spent the whole week prior to our anniversary in Arkansas visiting my family while Chris worked his you-know-what off here in CT (finishing the prep for the new carpet, filing our taxes, and doing a major project for one of his MBA classes).

He picked me up from the airport Saturday evening and we headed right into the city for our anniversary dinner. After a quick stop at a gas station to change out of my traveling ensemble of jeans and sneakers, we drove into the East Village for an Italian dinner (to remember our Italian honeymoon). Chris had kept the restaurant a surprise until that night and he couldn't have picked a better place! We went to Spina and it was perfect. The next day, our true anniversary, we made chicken delmonico and cheddar cheese grits in honor of New Orleans. For dessert, of course, we had some of our frozen wedding cake. And I have to say, even after a long plane ride from New Orleans to NYC and a year in the freezer, it still tasted great!

Here's to the first anniversary of many, Christopher. I love you with all my heart.

Easter Weekend

We couldn't have had more beautiful weather for Easter weekend! After 3 or 4 solid days of rain, the sun finally made a comeback. Thanks to the gloriously warmer weather, our crocuses have bloomed! Now we're just waiting on tulips.

Since both Chris and I had Good Friday off, we decided to finish painting the basement that we'd started to tackle the weekend before. Doesn't Chris look happy? Anything to improve the space where he works on The Porsche.

I convinced Chris to let us move all the stuff out of the garage before he painted the ceiling. I told him it would be easier to roll the ceiling and not worry about dripping on things that way. Which was true. What was also true was that I secretly wanted to organize everything and knew this was the only way! :)

Chris gives me a LOT of grief about the amount of scrapbooking/knitting/sewing/school/craft stuff I own. He should never do that again. Check out his collection:

Last week's before shot to refresh your memory...

And the after! What a change, huh? Just as an FYI, if you are using an oil based paint and you also have clothes drying in the dryer...they will come out smelling like oil based paint. :/

After a hard's day work on Friday, we got to relax and enjoy the rest of the Easter weekend with Chris' parents. They drove down from Maine Saturday morning and it was so good to see them! Especially Mary Pat, who we hadn't seen since Thanksgiving. After lunch we drove down to the beach in Westport. Dogs aren't allowed in the summer so it was nice to take Bailey once more before that rule goes into effect.

I may have married Zoolander by mistake...

And on Sunday morning we went to the Easter service at church. What a great weekend. Wonderful company, delicious food, perfect weather. And if that wasn't enough, Christ has risen...he has risen, indeed! It doesn't get any better than that. :)
