I've created a monster

Maybe monster is too strong a term. Really I've just let Bailey develop a very bad habit. This loveseat is my favorite piece of furniture. It's in our sitting room at the front of the house and that window looks out onto the street. Now, Bailey knows he's not supposed to be on the loveseat. The couch that goes with it is in the living room and Bailey never jumps on it, even when we were gone and had a friend over dogsitting him. But if he's alone, Bailey just has to sit on it. And, since I always feel guilty about leaving him at home, I let him at first and the bad habit has stuck. Oh well.

This is how the loveseat looks after I've vacummed all the Bailey hair up and fluffed the pillows. Nice, right?
Note the paw on the windowsill. Bailey is doing some serious neighborhood surveillance.
That's too much work. Time for a nap.
Alert again- maybe the postman is here? Or the UPS guy? Bailey thinks he's quite ferocious.
Will Chris ever come home again?
Almost 5:00 and Bailey's given up all hope.
I'm only sorry I don't have a picture of the happy reunion that ensues when Chris arrives home from work every day! Maybe I'll post one in a future blog to show how Bailey becomes a happy dog once more. Chris didn't want me to feel bad and insists that Bailey waits for me on the couch when I'm gone too, but I think we both know who he misses more. There is no bond quite like a boy and his dog.

The sun'll come out...TODAY!

It feels like it has been raining FOREVER. It rained for most of May, cleared up just in time for Chris' birthday weekend to be beautiful and sunny, and then it has rained ever since. Sure there have been little bursts of sunshine here and there, but mostly it has been gray and rainy. Finally, FINALLY, we saw the sun this weekend! We decided to take full advantage of the beautiful day and went to the Jones Family Farm to go strawberry picking. We picked almost three pounds of delicious, bright red strawberries. Yum!

As we were leaving with our strawberries we learned the farm also has its own vineyard. So, since it was still sunny without a hint of rain, we decided to stop in for a wine tasting. $6 to taste 7 different wines- we thought it was a bargain! And it was neat to see how many of the fruits in the different wines are grown right there on the farm.

We were curious if the farm made its own cheese too. They don't, but recommended a place in Southbury, CT, about 15 minutes from us, called the Artisan Food Store. The sky was still blue so we decided to make one more stop on our way home. The owner of the store was super helpful and let us try half a dozen different cheeses so we could pick our favorites. Armed with two delicious cheeses and some sliced salami (we could have been back in Bellagio it was so good!), we headed home. Where it did eventually start to rain. :/

But this morning we woke up to another beautiful, sunny day! We packed a bag for the beach, went to church, and then headed right over to Sherwood Island State Park. It's almost 5:00 now and the sun is still shining! Unfortunately I don't think it's going to last and our 4th of July looks like it might be a washout. For now, however, I'm going to enjoy it!

Summertime and the living is easy...

Whoops! I didn't realize how long it's been since I blogged. I don't know what to do with myself this summer! I just finished my first week off from school and I have one more week until summer school starts. I have moved every summer for the past three summers in a row so I've always been busy looking for a new job and learning a new place...but I can't tell you how happy I am to be staying put this summer! Here's a little of what has been keeping us busy.

Chris and I at Caroline's graduation. I love the bow tie! He's happy, I promise. He just isn't a fan of having his picture taken!
I had a great time getting to know the lovely ladies on Chris' side of the family better! We were all in D.C. for Chris' cousin Jill's graduation. Somehow none of my pictures of the graduates turned out- sorry girls!
One of our favorite new places to go hiking is this nature preserve by the lake. The last time we were there, however, we shared the water with a couple of snakes...I'm not sure how we feel about the spot now. :/
June 5- the day before Chris' 30th birthday. We started the celebration as soon as Chris got home from work! In NYC- Happy Birthday Chris!!!
One of Chris' best friends from college and her boyfriend met us in New York for the day.

June 20- Chris' dad very generously offered us his tickets to see the Red Sox play the Braves. It was my first Sox game and I was so excited! And despite the clouds, the game was breezy, cool and DRY.
Chris got his dinner from The Sausage Guy outside of Fenway! I got a Fenway Frank for $2.50 inside the park...what a bargain. :)
We had terrific seats!
I thought these posters were so cute- everyone was taking pictures of them.
Those are happy faces because the Sox WON! THANK YOU again for the tickets!
