Just a little lagniappe

Chris and I were both out of town last weekend, Chris to NYC to visit a friend from college and me to Oswego, NY for Cari's baby shower. Since we both had a blast we didn't mind spending this weekend just hanging out around Newtown. Saturday could not have been more glorious- I almost put on shorts! Today has been rainy but that's ok, since there is a long list of little wedding things to be done. Here are just a few random pictures from our weekend at home.

I don't know if I can say exactly why, but doesn't the inside of the TV look cool?  I guess I can just say we'll be getting paid to watch television...  :)
To celebrate the weekend (and the upcoming honeymoon to Italy) Chris came home from work with Proseco!  Yum!
We love Fridays.
There was a huge roll of metal fencing stuck in a ditch in the little stream by our house.  It was heavy, so Chris decided tying a rope around it and dragging it out was the only way it could be done.
Almost out...
Success!  I'm glad I'm marrying an engineer.  They're very good at problem solving.
Some of the bulbs we planted in the fall are coming up.  Here are a few crocuses.  I'm still waiting on my tulips!
See anything in that window?  Look a little closer...
It's Bailey!  He always manages to find us when we're outside.
We used a few of our wedding gifts to cook dinner last night.  Here's the wok from Chris' Uncle Peter and Michele, the rice cooker from his sister Caroline, and the pepper grinder from Erica in the background.  And everything was delicious.  :)

In like a lion, out like a lamb?

I'd always heard the saying "March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb", but I'd never really understood it...until I moved to New England. We had an eight-inch snow storm on March 2 (complete with a snow day- yippee!) and the skiing was terrific up at Bretton Woods last weekend. This weekend we had beautiful sunny days and glorious 50 degree weather! I can't wait to get my flip-flops and t-shirts out of storage...Spring is almost HERE!

BRETTON WOODS, NH  March 7-8
My very sweet and patient almost mother-in-law skied the green trails with me all morning.
We were easy to spot in our green jackets!
My fiance skied the more advanced trails all day, but we did find each other once where the trails intersect.
Zooming down the mountain?
Check out those Gibsons!
On a walk down by the falls...why can't Bailey ever pose for a picture?
Group picture!

WEBB MOUNTAIN PARK, MONROE, CT  March 15
It was an absolutely perfect day to try out a new park.
Bailey loved it!
Bailey's actually looking at the camera!
Beautiful spot overlooking the river

Snow in MARCH?!

Chris and I had planned a short trip to Bretton Woods, NH this past weekend to get in some skiing, snowmobiling, etc. before the end of the season.  But Bretton Woods got lots of rain Friday and we started hearing about bad weather heading our way Sunday night into Monday morning, so we ended up staying here.  There hasn't been much snow on the ground in about two weeks, so what a difference it was to wake up to 8 inches of fresh snow on the ground this morning!  Just about every school district in Connecticut is closed today and I taking advantage of the time to get lots of stuff done here.  It's nice to look outside the window and see all the white again!

At Huntington Park on Saturday...no signs of snow anywhere.
The pond was still mostly frozen though.  Bailey nearly gave us heart attacks when he decided to step out on the melting ice!
Monday morning- here's the trail Chris made dragging the snowblower out of the garage.
And up the driveway...
To the front of the house!
Hard at work
Bailey likes to keep watch from the front window

Chris has been waiting patiently for three weeks to try out his new (really old) snowblower.  Stench of gasoline in the air aside, it does a FANTASTIC job!
