Country Road, Take Me Home...

I was able to spend the last week and a half down south...and it was so great to be back!  I went dress shopping with Liz, Cari, and Kaylee in Houston, went to New Orleans for a few days to meet with bakeries and florists, and to Austin to visit friends I haven't seen in way too long.  Trips are unfortunately just never long enough to visit with everyone I miss, but hopefully I'll get to catch up with everyone in April!  It is good to be home again with Chris and Bailey.

We got ice cream cones after dress shopping...can you tell that Kaylee's was chocolate?  With sprinkles?

At Bakery #1!  Yummy!

Here is precious Aiden!  He is adorable and I finally got to meet him in person!

4th of July Vacation

I was surprised and delighted when Chris told me he had taken the entire week off for the 4th of July! We decided to head up to Bretton Woods, New Hampshire and spend our vacation at the house that Chris' parents have up there. It has been such a fun-filled and relaxing week that I am disappointed we have to head back to Connecticut tomorrow.

Some highlights from the trip have been: Hiking to peaceful Sawyer's Pond despite swarms of mosquitoes, the beautiful Lupines at the AMC Lodge, taking the tram up to the top of Cannon Mountain, hiking down from Cannon Mountain, Chris hiking down with a broken sole on his hiking boot!, the yummy garlic cheese bread at the Lonesome Lake Hut, SEEING A MOOSE for the FIRST TIME thanks to CAROLINE!, the glacial potholes on Mt. Jefferson, dinner at the Cider House with Chris' parents, and the gorgeous view from Zealand Falls. Most of all, it has just been nice to spend time with Chris' sister and parents for the holiday. He and I were remembering how last year we spent the 4th of July by ourselves in Delaware...being with family is so much better! :)

About to get on the tram to the top of Cannon Mountain

From the observation deck on top of Cannon Mt...over 4,000 feet in elevation! We hiked down Cannon and then met up with the Lonesome Lake trail.
A pic from our March 2008 hike up to Lonesome Lake...check out the snow on the bridge Chris is standing on!
Same bridge on our hike up Lonesome Lake in July...what a difference a few months make!
Glacial potholes on Mt. Jefferson
Those looming storm clouds caused us to head back down Jefferson before we had made it above the tree line!
Mary Pat and Jay on our hike up to Zealand Falls...what beautiful weather it was! You can't tell from this picture, but the falls are to the left just below our feet.
